Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Dylan Ferrandis finished third overall with a 2-3 moto score at the Unadilla National in New Berlin, New York. Making his Pro Motocross debut with the team at the ninth round of the championship was Jay Wilson, who bounced back from a first-turn crash in Moto 1 to finish 15th overall with a 23-12 score.

After qualifying seventh, Ferrandis got a good start and quickly made his way to fifth. He then made his way to third by Lap 4 and threw down some consistently fast times with leaders. With three laps to go, he moved into the runner-up spot after the rider ahead went down. Ferrandis kept pushing and had the leader in sight but unfortunately ran out of time and crossed the line second. In the second moto, the Frenchman had a technical issue and didn’t get off the gate as he hoped, but he put in an impressive charge to eighth on that opening lap. By Lap 6, he claimed third and once again matched the pace of the leaders, ultimately crossing the line third. Ferrandis’ 14th moto podium of the season secured third overall on the day and further strengthened his runner-up position in the points standings

Wilson had a solid start to his debut with the team and the series, qualifying just outside of the top 10 in 11th. Unfortunately, the Australian had a crash in the first turn of the opening 450MX moto and rejoined at the back of the field. Undeterred, he kept fighting his way forward despite the bike not being 100 percent after the crash and advanced to 23rd. In the second moto, Wilson got a much better start from a less-than-ideal-gate pick into sixth. He was passed by Ferrandis on Lap 2 and tried to maintain a position inside the top 10 but would finish 12th in the challenging conditions.

The Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing team heads down to Budds Creek Motocross Park in Mechanicsville, Maryland, for the penultimate round of the Pro Motocross Championship and the 27th round of the SuperMotocross World Championship on August 19

Jeremy Coker – Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing 450 Team Manager

“Dylan delivered an outstanding performance today, clocking lap times on par with the leader and making significant strides toward the front. We’re optimistic about pushing for the top spot in the upcoming two races. Jay Wilson, on the other hand, faced challenges with a crash in the first turn of the first moto but showed resilience throughout the race. In Moto 2, he aimed for a top-10 finish but narrowly missed out. We’re looking to come back even stronger next weekend and to finish these last two rounds on a high note.”

“It was a good race for me yesterday after this refreshing break. The team did a great job. We finally got the bike that we wanted, and it’s good to be back to my normal speed and fighting up front. Unfortunately, we had little bad luck in the second moto with an issue with the holeshot device. I feel like I had more than third, but it was a good step in the right direction.

“It’s a new experience for us. It’s the first time racing a Pro Motocross race here in America. Coming to Unadilla was pretty special. There’s a lot of history here, so it’s been a very exciting day. Besides the first moto crash, which we struggled with a little bit, we learned a lot. I was able to support the team and find some more data, and I’m happy to leave here healthy.

“I was pretty realistic about my expectations coming here. The intensity is quite high, but I just tried to learn as much as possible today. It was my first day on this bike, but the team was very accommodating. I’m pumped for everyone here today; the 250 guys had good results, and Dylan had a good result. If we can support these guys a little bit, I’m happy.”
