YSRC High Performance Clutch System The YSRC primary and roller secondary clutches are calibrated for durable, cool operation. They efficiently harness and transfer the massive torque produced by the Genesis Turbo to the track, all while minimizing drive belt wear. The primary shifts out aggressively to use all of the power while the roller secondary is quick to back-shift and provides additional ratio through its oversized sheaves for continuous acceleration.
Fox® Zero iQS Shock Package Fox Intelligent Quick Shift (iQS) shock absorbers are fitted up front and on the rear arm so that the suspension can be adjusted on the fly using the left hand mounted switch on the bars. Compression damping is offered in three settings that range from soft to firm. Once activated, the SCU (suspension control unit), located on the shock body, alters the oil flow within all applicable shocks in less than one second to allow the rider to dial in the suspension feel based on the running conditions. The shock setting is clearly displayed. There are also two drive' select modes which can be pre-set and held in memory to change the settings in one easy step. Rebound damping is pre-set to control kick-back and 'packing' in the rough, regardless of the iQS compression selection.
ARCS Front Suspension The ARCS front suspension features tall, strong forged alloy spindles and redesigned lightweight upper A-arms. Revised for optimum suspension function and increased ground clearance, the Sidewinder SRX has a more predictable and consistent handling with less chassis roll.
Low Profile SRX 137 Suspension The SRX utilizes a special suspension calibration with dual rate front shock springs and low preload rear torsion springs to provide a lower ride height through additional suspension 'sag'. The lower profile enhances top speed performance while keeping the sled level in tight corners. The softer initial spring rates are consequently more progressive, ramping up deeper in the stroke to resist harsh bottoming while full travel is still available when unweighted. The SR 137 skid remains a “coupled” suspension that utilizes a unique “sliding” front arm mount. With up to half-inch of movement at the front arm “slot," the system allows the SR 137 to deliver controlled ski-lift during acceleration while still retaining front arm bump compliance. The solid rear axle design and large diameter rear wheels provide maximum strength while the special front idler wheel layout increases clearance for iQS and reduces friction for greater durability and performance .
Stryke Single Keel Ski The new Yamaha-designed single keel ski strikes the elusive balance between lightweight steering effort and precision handling. Unique, staggered carbides further enhance steering response while the exclusive shim pad assembly works with the rubber saddle block to adjust the carbide pressure point. By relocating the thick spacer located on each ski axle to the opposite side, the ski stance becomes adjustable.
Tapered Tunnel Design The Sidewinder's light weight, two-piece, tapered tunnel enhances leg comfort and overall ride positioning during long hauls while the reinforced running boards are punched with aggressive boot hold serrations that offer excellent snow evacuation to keep your feet planted where you want them.
Heated Trail Seat A heated seat that provides warmth and comfort on even the coldest of winter days comes standard on the Sidewinder L-TX GT. A simple flip of the dash-mounted switch gives you to the choice of two warmth settings, allowing you to explore from sunup to sundown in complete comfort.
Stealth Control System The handlebar controls feature a left-sided switch cluster for “on-the-fly” access to the multi-step hand and thumb warm adjusters, the push button reverse gear shift and the multi-function gauge that can be easily select information with a convenient toggle. On the right side, a clean bar hosts an ergonomically-shaped throttle lever and a simple, stand-alone emergency stop switch. The Hayes 'Stealth' brake cylinder is equipped with a composite brake lever that, coupled with a lightweight caliper, offers better feel and powerful stopping performance.
20" Tunnel Bag The under-seat bag provides additional storage. With it's semi-rigid design, the bag is easy-to-access and water resistant while the quarter-turn, quick-release fasteners make for a quick removal.
High Tech Turbo Able to withstand highly elevated temperatures, the Nickel alloy turbine body is extremely strong and precise. Supported by premium ceramic ball bearings, the Inconel turbine blade assembly is very light and strong which yields a low moment of inertia for a lightning quick response to the exhaust gas input. Triple throttle bodies are used exclusively to further enhance the quick delivery of compressed air from the impeller to the intake valves.
Mitsubishi Electronic Control Unit The Yamaha-developed Mitsubishi ECU uses a series of 9 sensors to gather running condition data to compute a predetermined memory map which will adjusts ignition timing, fuel delivery, manifold air-pressure and turbo boost pressure to produce maximum performance under any condition.
Triple Throttle Body Induction The Yamaha Genesis turbo engine's intake system uses three separate throttle bodies that are positioned very close to the intake valves to create a quick engine response with little to no lag. This is something not see in any other production turbo on the planet.
Dual-Piston Braking A dual-piston brake caliper applies braking forces directly to the drive shaft with a wave-style, lightweight drilled rotor. The LE-only rotor removes 1 lb. of rotating mass from the vehicles driveline which transfers all of the Sidewinder's available horsepower to the snow. The Stealth master cylinder and composite Stealth brake lever offer excellent modulation and ergonomically precise operation.
Electronic Air Bypass Valve (ABV) Unlike conventional turbo 'blow-off' valves, the Yamaha ABV redirects air pressure back into the intake side of the compressor which prevents surge and maintains impeller speed.
Liquid Cooled Turbo Body When the engine shuts down, the convection energy produced by the super-heated coolant at the turbo head keeps circulating without the coolant pump in operation which eliminates the need for an engine cool down cycle, all while maintaining the turbo components' durability.
Centralized Mass Design The SRV chassis layout was engineered to centralize mass. Approximately 60% of the sled's weight is tightly centered within the main triangulation for a quick-handling, well-balanced sled that's fun to throw around in a wide variety of conditions.
Lightweight, Rigid SRV Chassis The SRV chassis combines a load-bearing triangulated structure with lightweight aluminum construction to create a neutrally balanced sled that's centered on the rider. The pyramidal upper frame builds chassis strength without excessive weight.
Low Profile RipSaw Track The SRX uses a 137" long, low 1" profile multi-ply track in a 2.86 fully clipped configuration. The lower lug profile yields less wind resistance at high speed while the fully clipped track reduces friction to provide maximum top speed performance. Additionally, the low lug reduces weight and stress for improved durability and performance at sustained high speeds.
Over-the-Engine Steering The straight steering post is configured over the engine and connects to a single bell crank for simplicity and a light weight which minimizes free-play in the steering system and delivers a tight turning radius.
