Overview
Mesa is also the jumping off spot for the mysterious and haunting Superstition Mountains and the legend of the Lost Dutchman Mine. The promise of riches have lured many a treasure seeker into the range, many of whom have never returned. Hikers have also been lost to the aptly named Superstitions. A must ride is the Apache Trail (State Route 88). The road twists and turns into the rugged landscape, passing the Goldfield ghost town and flanked by the Superstitions to the southeast and Canyon Lake to the north. Tortilla Flat was the last surviving stagecoach stop along the Apache Trail. The tiny town, population 6, is now a popular tourist stop. It has a restaurant and gift shop. Boat tours are available on Canyon Lake. Our Phoenix location is open all year round making it a perfect destination for a winter getaway, summer escape, or spring adventure just in time to catch a game at one of the many MLB Spring Training Stadiums in the area.
