Cameron Beaubier Earns The Pacific Nationals Pro Superbike Pole At Sonoma Raceway; Garrett Gerloff Earns Pro Sportbike Pole

Sonoma, CA - May 3, 2014 – Following last weekend’s Yamaha SoCal Nationals, the GEICO Motorcycle Superbike Shootout Presented By Yamaha traveled north to Sonoma Raceway for the Arai Pacific Nationals, and local rider Cameron Beaubier took advantage of the home cooking to put his #2 Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha YZF-R1 on the pole for Sunday’s Pro Superbike race. Cameron’s teammate Josh Hayes, a three-time Superbike Champion in the U.S., also qualified on the front row for tomorrow’s race. Josh is poised to get off the line quickly and make a hard charge to the front.

After earning the pole, Cameron said, “My session started out a little slow, and I wasn’t feeling comfortable. But, I came in (to the pits), and my crew put on a new tire, which made a huge difference. The last time we were here, I was coming off knee surgery, so it’s great to be back here in front of my friends and family, and to be healthy. I felt great the whole session, and I’m really enjoying the track.”

Sunday’s 20-lap Pro Superbike race is scheduled to start at 3:25 PM PST.

On his very first day on track at Sonoma Raceway, Garrett Gerloff dominantly earned the pole position for Sunday’s Pro Sportbike race. His qualifying time of 1:38.669 was a full second fastest than the rider who qualified in second position.

“This is a new track for me, and every lap I do here, I learn a little more,” Garrett said. “My teammate (JD Beach) and I ran a few laps together, and that helped me. This is an awesome track, and I’m having fun. I really enjoy riding (at Sonoma Raceway).”

Like Cameron’s teammate Josh in Pro Superbike, Garrett’s teammate JD Beach will start from row two in Pro Sportbike aboard his #6 Y.E.S./Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha YZF-R6.

Sunday’s 20-lap Pro Sportbike race is set to go green at 12:55 PM PST.
