Ballance Racing’s Taylor Kiser and Walker Fowler went 2-3 in XC1 Pro, with Kiser nearly taking the win.
The afternoon combined XC1 Pro and XC2 Pro Am event brought drama worthy of the GNCC record books. In XC1 Pro, Kiser put his YFZ450R out front early, forging a narrow lead over Adam McGill and then eventual winner Borich on the first of four laps. The battle heated up even more at the halfway point, as just 5.8 seconds separated leader Kiser from his four closest pursuers. Meanwhile, as Borich took a narrow lead over Kiser on lap three, teammate Fowler was charging hard from the mid-pack on his own YFZ, moving from ninth all the way up to a podium position on the fourth and final lap. The incredible drive also gave Fowler the fastest lap of the race. While just behind in the XC2 Pro Am contest, Yamaha-mounted McGuire, Hanna and Kramer had things their own way all race long, running 1-2-3 for most of the event.

Several times this season, the Women’s race has been a heated battle between Cecco and rival Angel Atwell. But not this time, as Cecco leapt to a solid 22-second lead on the first of four long off-road laps, and then expanded it to over a minute by the halfway point. But the eight-time GNCC champion wasn’t through yet. Despite the growing heat, she maintained her pace on the final lap, stretching the advantage to nearly two minutes at the flag. So quick was Traci, that she also finished the two-hour-plus event an incredible third overall among some 280 competitors. The convincing performance tips the Women’s title chase in Cecco’s favor with four wins to competitor Atwell’s three wins.
