Pro Road Racing May 15-17, 2015 | Danville, Virginia Results

In a commanding sweep of the new MotoAmerica series, Yamaha YZF-R1 and YZF-R6 riders set the fastest practice times, took every pole position and then won every race in all four classes at Virginia International Raceway over the May 15-17 weekend. Leading the charge was Monster Energy Graves Yamaha’s Josh Hayes, who took his 50th and 51st career Superbike wins on Sunday afternoon. He remains second on the all-time list of Superbike race winners.

Hayes’ weekend started dramatically with an early practice crash, but the four-time series champion gathered himself together, returned to the track and set the fastest time anyway. He followed by stealing the superpole from hard-charging young teammate Cameron Beaubier by a narrow 0.030-second margin, setting the stage for another terrific intra-team battle in Sunday’s twin races. Then another challenge tested Hayes, as a red flag midway through the first race erased his huge lead over the field. At the restart he was briefly challenged by Jake Lewis heading into the first turn, but when Lewis ran wide Hayes took control and rode to his amazing 50th win, with Beaubier making it a 1-2 Yamaha finish. A comfortable win in race two capped the best possible weekend.

“Congratulations to Josh Hayes for his 50th and 51st career Superbike wins,” said Yamaha roadrace team manager Tom Halverson. “Capturing all the other class wins is a truly remarkable achievement, and makes the weekend even more special.”
