AMA Supercross February 15, 2014 | Arlington, TX Results

Toyota/Yamaha/JGR’s Justin Brayton scored his fourth top-five finish of the 2014 AMA Supercross season at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Saturday night, Feb. 15. The strong finish keeps the bLU cRU rider in fifth place in the 450SX point standings. This weekend also marked the change from 250SX West Division to 250SX East Division competition, a run of seven consecutive East races. Yamaha bLU cRU hopefuls included second-year starter Jeremy Martin of Yamalube/Star/Yamaha Racing and rookie teammate Anthony “A-Rod” Rodriguez, along with Cycletrader.com/Rock River Yamaha’s Alex Martin, all aboard the new 2014 YZ250F.

Adding to his consistent performances this year, Brayton was solidly inside the top five in qualifying practice. Although he also placed fifth in his heat race, this required him to race a semi, which he fortunately won convincingly. When the gate finally dropped for the 20-lap main event, the YZ450F rider shot to the first turn just behind Ryan Dungey, eventual winner James Stewart, and Justin Barcia. Brayton settled into third until dropping a position to Barcia on lap seven, and then making a mistake that cost two more positions to Ryan Villopoto and Ken Roczen on lap 14. However Brayton battled back, impressively catching and passing Roczen with three laps remaining to secure his top-five finish.

In afternoon qualifying practice for the 250SX East Division, Jeremy Martin was the quickest of the trio, setting the eighth fastest time in the field. A-Rod then scorched to an impressive podium in the first of two heat races, slotting into third behind Adam Cianciarulo and Blake Baggett at the start and then racing steadily to the flag. He followed up by starting inside the top five in the 250 final and advancing to third before a crash took him out of the race. But Alex Martin took up the slack, fighting his way from back in the pack to wind up ninth after 15 exciting laps. Unfortunately Jeremy Martin did not make the main event after crashing twice in his heat race and being pushed off-track in the LCQ.
